![]() In later phases, many of Ganondorf's attacks will one-up the heart-reducing nature of Gloom, and instead completely destroy a heart, which greatly reduces a player's ability to just tank hits and heal, adding tension to the fight. Related: The Legend of Zelda: How Ganon & Ganondorf Are DifferentĪs the most recent iteration of the boss fight, Tears of the Kingdom's final battle against Ganondorf is somewhat novel in its framing, being essentially a rematch between Link and Ganondorf, and comes with a few unique surprises. For Ganondorf's first real appearance in the series, however, a fight with more going for it could have made a stronger first impression. Although the fight is perhaps disappointing in a vacuum, however, it's still worth noting that Ganondorf serves more as a buildup in Ocarina of Time, being something of a first phase for the much more substantial Ganon fight. To make matters worse, the gimmick of the fight is seen earlier in the game in the fight against Phantom Ganon - and while it makes sense that Ganondorf would have similar attacks, it doesn't help the fact that the fight can feel somewhat dull. The fight is relatively easy and riskless, with barely any variation on attacks through its entire duration. As such, the Ganondorf fight mostly revolves around the simple gimmick of volleying Ganondorf's spells back and forth until he becomes vulnerable, hitting him, and then repeating the process until the fight is over. Unfortunately, Ganondorf's boss fight in Ocarina of Time is somewhat underwhelming on its own merits, as the fight mostly serves as a prelude to the castle escape sequence and the final battle with Ganon.
